K&S Music has a full woodwind, brass, and string instrument repair center. The director of our brass and woodwind department is Russ Ackerman, and the director of our string department is Al Pantalone.
Russ Ackerman has specialized in woodwind instrument repairs since the early 1970's. He began his career as a repair technician over thirty years ago while apprenticing under Fred Kirshner. Since then he has worked in NYC and acquired a clientele of many famous jazz saxophonists.
Al Pantalone is an accomplished string luthier. He began his studies in 1974 at the Catgut Acoustical Society in Montclair, NJ, and continued his studies at the University of New Hampshire. He also furthered his repair knowledge at the University of New Hampshire and at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts concentrating on repair and restoration. From the late 1970's to the mid 1980's, he also worked with instrument maker Otto Bienert.
